The story of Oriental Beauty is a true legend of discovery and transformation. Crafted from young tea buds that have been naturally bitten by a small insect known as the tea leaf hopper (Jacobiasca formosana), this semi-oxidized oolong showcases the wisdom of Taiwanese tea masters. The meticulous process involves heavy withering and multiple tumbling steps, a technique that causes the edges of each leaf to turn a striking reddish-brown. The final touch is a gentle, low-temperature roasting, which locks in the unique dried fruit aroma.
A popular tale suggests that this elegant tea earned its English name after it was presented to Queen Victoria. Legend has it she was so captivated by its beautiful appearance and rich flavor that she named it "Oriental Beauty." Its complex character has also earned it the nickname, "Champagne Oolong," a testament to its sparkling, wine-like clarity and refined taste.
