Formosa Brew: From a Enchanting, Mountainous Island Rich in Tea Culture
Centuries ago, when European sailors first laid eyes on a mist-shrouded island on the edge of the Western Pacific, they bestowed upon it the romantic title: ‘Formosa’—the beautiful island.
Though not a major producer in terms of volume, Taiwan's tea, beginning in the 1860s, quickly rose to prominence. Thanks to its unique high-mountain terroir, temperate climate, and generations of exquisite craftsmanship, "Formosa Oolong" journeyed across the seas to become a sought-after luxury good among the European and American elite. It was renowned for its natural floral and fruity aromas, silken texture, delicate sweetness, and bright golden hue. By the end of the 19th century, it was gracing the tearooms of London, Paris, and New York, and celebrated as one of the world’s finest teas.
Today, under the name Formosa Brew (茶蘊・福爾摩沙), we honour the legacy of this beautiful island with the name Cha (茶, meaning tea) and Yun (蘊, meaning heritage), which symbolises the deep-rooted character and profound essence of our tea.
We believe that a single cup of our exceptional tea holds within it a deep, rich history. Each leaf we select from this land captures the spirit and vitality of Taiwan’s green, luxuriant mountains. This gem from the East is presented to you in the purest, most elegant way, offering an experience of tea unlike any other.
